On Sunday March 22, 2009, 175 bowlers competed for $300 and the Robeson Cup at the 4th Annual Bowling for the Brave - Wilkes-Barre sponsored by the Philadelphia Fire Department IAFF Local 22.
For the 4th year in a row there was a great turnout at this event that was held at Chacko's Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre. In the end, the 2-time defending champions from the Scranton Fire Department presented the Woodlawn Fire Company from Allentown, PA with the Robeson Cup.
This was the 2nd Bowling for the Brave title won by the Woodlawn Fire Company; they won the Inaugural Bowling for the Brave - Lehigh Valley event in 2008.
David Price, bowling with the William Walker Hose Fire Company, set a Bowling for the Brave high game record when he rolled a 299 in his 1st game. A few minutes later, Joel Mumie from Hazle Township Fire & Rescue rolled a 289 in his 1st game.
Overall, Foundation was able to raise over $7,000 on Sunday and are currently planning Bowling for the Brave - Lehigh Valley which will be taking place in Allentown, PA later on this year. |
